The Cheeky Lady Event

What a success. I was able to meet some beautiful and completely vivacious women, and create some absolutely beautiful images. A few of these lovely ladies have given me permission to display their images on my website gallery. This gallery is password protected, so if you want to take a peak you will have to contact me!

Well, I had better get to finishing the rest of these images!

So I was out and about again promoting Cheeky Lady's Valentines Event.  And I again went into some fabulous shops in Fair Haven and met some even more fabulous people!  So I am going to do another review post.  I won't delve into the subject or get on my soap box, but I feel it is important to balance chain shopping for brand names, with shopping local.  Not only are you able to help feed your local economy; but the relationships that are nurtured with in locally owned shops are so valuable!  Anyhow, Lets get to some reviews!!!

Eclipse Bookstore -   1104 11th St (360-647-8165)

If you are book lover, this is such a magical store. Odd description, but It's true.  When you open the door, you are greeted by endless shelves stacked full, and piles of books on the floor!  This is a weird description, but please humor me: get a book, put your nose the the closed pages, and then brush the pages with your fingers and inhale... That is one of my favorite smells in the world.;and that is the aroma this store is filled with! Novels, Histories, Art books, Classics are everywhere you turn!  I was so disappointed that I couldn't spend longer exploring the shelves!  I will be back!

Nostalgia Vintage Wear -  1323 11th St (360-733-5821)

First off, I want to make it clear this is Not a consignment store! Lynn (the owner) selects the pieces she sells from several different vintage clothing suppliers from around the USA.  She takes special care of her items, selecting beautiful pieces and then once receiving them she makes sure they are restored and cleaned to perfection.  I am completely enchanted by her store, the ambiance of the clothing, art, and displays.

The care and dedication that Lynn puts into her shop is dwarfed by the care and genuine love she has for her customers!  I just loved listening to her as she talked about people, fashion and business. It was so very clear how great of a person she is.  It was so refreshing, and uplifting to have met her. She is totally her own person, in the best kind of way.  I could gush for many more paragraphs about this amazing woman and her beautiful shop.  But I will end by saying I love the clothing in her shop, the shoes, the jewelry, the hats and scarves.  You must visit her shop!!!
OH... and if you do visit, mention you saw my post and receive a 10% discount!

Extra note to my Cheeky Ladies -- She sells vintage night gowns and lingerie as well as the every day pieces. She is able to custom order different pieces (give her a months time to get them in) that suit your personality and tastes!!!

While getting word out about the Cheeky Lady Event (January 16th, 2009), I have met some of the friendliest people. And Visited the most fabulous shops in Bellingham. Here are some:

Mi Shoes - 1315 Railroad Ave (360-715-2046)

One of the hardest part of going vegetarian (near vegan... but with organic milk), has been the shoes. I love shoes - total cliche I know, but I can't help it. Mi Shoes are all beautiful, classic with unique and bohemian flair.

Garys' - 128 w. Holly St (360-733-2180)

(photo borrowed from Gary's Website)

Every-time I walk around Bellingham, I go into this beautiful clothing boutique. The elegant, classic, yet fashion forward high-end clothing has me spinning every time. The owners Barbra & Gary are so incredibly friendly and welcoming; I have to admit it caught me off guard, in a good way. I was so impressed by the clothing, and the posh atmosphere of the store that I thought I was going to meet an intimidating character who would look at my target jacket, and gap jeans and laugh... I was absolutely wrong!

Envy - 1322 Commercial Street (360-676-5800)

Envy is one of Bellingham
(Photo borrowed from Envy website)

I have passed by the old brick lined alley and seen the elegant "Envy" sign swinging in the Bellingham breeze. I have always wanted to check it out. But on a normal day I am toting my children with me on my walks... thus no shop exploring. However since my latest hair dresser turned my hair purple with blond patches, It seemed like a good time to explore other hair options. As I walked in a lady was leaving, and the reception desk got up and gave her a hug and a genuine farewell. I knew I was in the right place! The salon is gorgeous, and so are the stylists! I cannot wait to return... and I had better do it quick, my hair is looking pretty sad.

La Vie En Rose - 111 w. Holly (360-715-1839)

La Vie En Rose is my favorite bakery/deli/cafe!!! Their pastries are scrumptious, their hot drinks taste and displayed with flair... and I have to be honest, I have only tried a nibble of a non-dessert item (I have a bit of a sweet tooth), and that was amazing as well! Their shop is beautifully laid out, and shows some beautiful art. The staff is so friendly, and the service is dedicated and prompt. Like I said, It is my favorite!

I hope that you visit these wonderful shops, it is well worth the trip.
